Replaying movements on a tab

This topic describes how to replay a phone users movements on the map of the ESPA analysis center screen based on the data on an individual tab. You can also create narratives to replay movements and these allow you to integrate data from multiple tabs on the Data view and cell coverage results, for further information refer to Creating a new narrative.

You can automatically replay a phone users movements using Replay which is available on the CDR data, Timeline, Geo-loc data and HO data tabs. This can be useful if you want to display the phone users movements around a specific location and time, for example the crime scene at the time of the crime. The procedure described below details how to use the CDR data tab to display movement. The HO data tab allows you to drill-down into more detailed movement as it also includes the handover sectors. It allows you to drill-down over both time periods or for a specific call. For replaying movements using the HO data tab refer to How to replay movement using handovers.

  1. On the ESPA analysis center screen, configure your CDR data tab to only show the calls you want to replay. There are a number of ways you can do this, for example after analyzing the case enter the time period you are interested in, using Date filter then click Refresh or Refresh data.

  2. Set the map to display the location of the sectors that will be replayed. You can do this a number of ways including clicking Zoom for the first call on the CDR data tab then adjusting the zoom on the map to cover all the sectors you want replayed. The map view by default remains in this position throughout the replay. Although not recommended, if you do want to change this then use Lock map view during replay on the Advanced options dialog box.

  3. On the CDR tab select all the checkboxes on the current page that you want replayed then click Replay.

    The sectors used for each selected call displayed on the tab's current page are then stepped through and highlighted, with a black outline, one at a time on the map.

    If you require to adjust the speed of the replay then use Pause time (seconds) on the Advanced options dialog box.

    To maximize the relevant calls on the current page you can use the CDR active options dialog box to hide unselected cells and calls without matching tower location.
