Managing ELSUR validation references
This topic describes how to create, edit, delete, import and export ELSUR validation references.
This feature requires option E14 Sentinel. If you do not have this option this feature is not available.
If you require an overview of what ELSUR record validation is, or a detailed description of the settings referred to in these procedures refer to About ELSUR Record Validation and Create validation references screen respectively.

You can start creating an ELSUR validation reference either from a case, or from the main menu. Both provide the same result, and the method you choose will likely be based on what screen you are using when you decide to create a new validation reference.
- From the main menu:
On the main menu click Intercept Center, then click ELSUR Record Validation.
The ELSUR Record Validation screen opens.
In the Template management group click Create validation references. The Create validation references screen opens.
- From a case:
For the case you want to add an ELSUR validation record to, open the Manage case screen.
Need help finding your case?On the main menu click View cases. The screen that opens depends on your setting of View cases. If it is set to:
- Advanced view, then the Advanced view cases screen opens.
- If your case is listed on the Favorite & recent cases tab, click the case name to open the Manage case screen.
- If it is not listed on the Favorite & recent cases tab, then click the Cases tab. Use the search filters to help locate your case. You can also click to open the FILTERS group which allows you to set your own default filter defining what is displayed on this tab, for example you may wish to set it to cases that you created which are currently open.

- Grid view, then the View cases screen opens.
- If your case is listed under My recent cases click it to open the Manage case screen.
- If it is not listed under My recent cases then select your case from the table, using the search filters to help locate it if required. Note, by default the search is set to only display cases that you created; if you are not the original creator but an assignee then ensure you set Case filter to Assigned cases before clicking Search.
- Tree view, then the View i-cases screen opens.
- Click at the top-right of the screen to open either the View Cases or Advanced view cases screen and follow the above description.
- Advanced view, then the Advanced view cases screen opens.
Click Validation settings.
The Validation settings screen opens.
NOTE: If Validation settings is not displayed, your case is not configured for validations. For further information on configuring it, refer to How to create a case to perform ELSUR validation.
Click Add.
The View or edit validation references screen opens.
Click Create validation.
The Create validation references screen opens.
- From the main menu:

In LI Standard select the Lawful Interception (LI) standard you require.

In Message Type select from the available message types. All the message types listed are applicable to the LI standard you selected.
All the possible parameters for the message type are now displayed on the screen.

Expand the parameters or use Search field to locate your required parameter, then click on it.
Your selected parameter is now displayed as the title of a group on the screen. This group allows you to create your validation reference rule.
- In this group select your required Condition, Value (if displayed) and Result. For further information and examples of validation reference rules refer to Validation reference rule examples.

Click Add.
Your validation reference rule is displayed in the table.
- You can repeat these steps to add as many validation reference rules for the selected LI standard as required.

Once you have added all the required validation reference rules click Save as.
The Save reference dialog box opens.

Enter a descriptive name, that clearly identifies the validation reference then click OK. For further recommendations on choosing a suitable name refer to Save as.
Your ELSUR validation reference is saved.

To confirm it is saved, click View or edit validation references.
The View or edit validation references screen opens.
- Your ELSUR validation reference is displayed in the table with the name you saved it as displayed in the Alias column.

You can start editing an ELSUR validation reference either from a case, or from the main menu. Both provide the same result, and the method you choose will likely be based on what screen you are using when you decide to create a new validation reference.
- From the main menu:
On the main menu click Intercept Center, then click ELSUR Record Validation.
The ELSUR Record Validation screen opens.
In the Template management group click View or edit validation references. The View or edit validation references screen opens.
Use the Alias, State and Message Type filters to help you locate the validation reference you want to edit.
In the Alias column, click the name of the validation reference you want to edit.
The Create validation references screen opens.
- From a case:
For the case you want to add an ELSUR validation record to, open the Manage case screen.

Click Validation settings.
The Validation settings screen opens.
NOTE: If Validation settings is not displayed, your case is not configured for validations. For further information on configuring it, refer to How to create a case to perform ELSUR validation.
In the Alias column, click on the name of the validation reference you want to edit.
The Create validation references screen opens.
- From the main menu:

Edit the validation references as required, then click Save as.
The Save reference dialog box opens.

If you want to save the validation using the same name then click OK.
Alternatively, you can create a new validation reference by entering a new name, then click OK.
NOTE: Only validation references that have not been applied to a case can be deleted.

On the main menu click Intercept Center, then click ELSUR Record Validation.
The ELSUR Record Validation screen opens.

In the Template management group click View or edit validation references. The View or edit validation references screen opens.

Use the Alias, State and Message Type filters to help you locate the validation reference you want to delete.
For example, only validation references that have not been applied to any cases can be deleted so you may want to set State to Red.
- For the validation reference you want to delete, click .

On the main menu click Intercept Center, then click ELSUR Record Validation.
The ELSUR Record Validation screen opens.

In the Template management group click Import or export validation references. The Import or export validation references screen opens.

Use the Alias and Message Type filters to help you locate the validation reference you want to export.

Use the check-boxes to select the validation references you require, then click Export.
The validation references you selected are now available as a text file. You can then import this file into another OSS-ESPA account.

On the main menu click Intercept Center, then click ELSUR Record Validation.
The ELSUR Record Validation screen opens.

In the Template management group click Import or export validation references. The Import or export validation references screen opens.

Click Import. Windows Explorer opens. Navigate to the folder and select the required file.
The validation references you imported are now displayed on the screen and are available for you to apply to cases.
