Managing templates and keys

This section describes how to manage templates and keys.

NOTE: To manage templates and keys you must be an administrator, or a user who has the Templates manager permission selected on the Edit user screen.

Templates help to efficiently create documents such as detailed search warrants to one page CALEA sheets. Templates are firstly created by administrators or a user who has the Templates manager permission identifying key words or sections that are then completed by an individual user. Users can apply the templates to a case by clicking Templates on the Manage case screen and can also use templates without an associated case from the main menu by selecting Templates then Manage non-case templates. If your OSS-ESPA account also supports the OSS-SRN Express Portal then these templates are also made available to users of the OSS-SRN Express Portal.

As an administrator or a user with templates manager permission you must perform the following steps:

  1. Identify the key words in your Microsoft Word template file that are to be completed by the users then upload the file to OSS-ESPA, as described in How to create a template.

  2. Create the key words in OSS-ESPA, as described in How to create a key.

For more details, refer to the individual topics.

If you are not an administrator and require information on using templates refer to Using templates.
